HELVETICA THE MOVIE



Helvetica was originated from Switzerland in  1957 and its original name was Die Neue Haas Grotesk that translated in english is: the new grotesque haas.

His opinion about Helvetica is that it has that succes because is neutral, and he things that typography is order, so is not the shapes of the letters that give you emotions but the means of them.

Helvetica brought to popularity the swiss design movement.

The movie also speaks about Modernism, Post-modernism and Grunge movements.




There are a lot o insights ABOUT DESIGN that you can take away from the film, for example that in typography is more important the space between letters (the white) the than the letters (the black).
Another one is that some designers think that typography must be expressive and some of them think that it has to be neutral and let the words be expressive.




Helvetica is one of the most used font ever and we can see it everywhere around us, also in our school campus there are some examples such as:
